Tottenham are keen on 18-year-old Turkish sensation Arda Guler, who wants to leave Fenerbahce this summer.
According to Chris Wheatley, Tottenham are one of the clubs keen to sign 18-year-old Turkish midfield sensation Arda Guler. The teenager has reportedly held talks with Fenderbahce to decide his future as he leans towards an exit and takes up a bigger challenge.
Arda Guler has been a payer on the shortlist of many top teams since the summer window opened. Fenerbahce values the talent immensely, but their hands are tied about his future. Before the season started, the Turkish club had hoped to attract multiple bids for the 18-year-old, but a clause in his contract has changed the complexion of his future.
While Fenerbahce hoped to attract big offers, Guler played more than 1500 minutes last season. That factor triggered a clause in his contract, thus bringing a release clause into action. Now, the Turkish sensation is available for €17.5 million, which seems affordable for many clubs.
Guler is set for talks with Fenderbahce to decide on his future. The 18-year-old is leaning towards an exit with several top sides, including Barcelona and Tottenham, keen. The Catalans were one of the early suitors, but they will have to wait for their FFP situation to resolve.

Only after that will they make a move for any player, let Aong Guler. In comparison, he seems like an exciting talent to add to the likes of Gavi and Pedri; the price tag is high for the Catalans. Yet, they hope to convince the player until their situation resolves, and then, they might make their move.
However, English sides like Newcastle United are keen on making an offer imminently. Eddie Howe has been keen but now faces competition from Tottenham for Guler. The youngster could fit both systems, but any move will depend on which team offers the better project.
Tottenham are keen to add a creative player to their ranks after missing out on such a profile last season. They have seen Harry Kane take up the mantle of providing goals for a few seasons as the Spurs seek a change in scenario.
Hence, they are contesting the signature of James Maddison but may want someone else in their squad. Guler represents a solid player who will only need a meagre investment. Whether they can convince the player of the project remains the question, but Spurs are a big club in the Premier League.
There’s no doubt about the intense competition Spurs might play in the chase for Guler. However, it will prove worthwhile to make a bold statement of intent and sign the 18-year-old in the summer from Fenerbahce.
