Newcastle United are willing to spend considerably to sign 18-year-old midfield prodigy Arda Guler from Fenerbahce.

According to Fotomac, Newcastle United are willing to pay a good price, over €20 million, to tempt Fenerbache to sell Arda Guler. The 18-year-old midfield prodigy has attracted plenty of interest from English clubs, but Eddie Howe wants to bring the youngster on priority.

Arda Guler has created waves in the transfer market. Many media reports pointed towards an imminent exit from Fenerbahce in the summer. The Turkish giants are keen to hold onto him for another season at least but know things are not in their hands regarding the 18-year-old.

Many top clubs are reportedly interested in signing Guler but were all waiting to make the move. The general hope was to see the price drop, which Fabrizio Romano has recently updated. One of the clubs that are following his tracks are Newcastle United.

Newcastle United have been optimistic about beating the competition for Guler in this window. The report now insists that the Magpies will pay a significant sum, likely around the €20 million-plus mark, for the 18-year-old star.

However, Romano’s update over a day ago indicated Guler could leave Fenerbahce for €17.5 million, making Newcastle’s task much easier. Considering the talent, the Turkish side will want the full clause in return and will not negotiate to bring the price down.

Romano suggested the clause got activated after Guler completed 1,500 minutes last season. Newcastle United will likely make a direct offer to bring the 18-year-old to England. Howe will then look to integrate him into their squad for the upcoming season.

Guler’s talent is similar to Anthony Gordon, whom they signed paying big in January. Newcastle may consider a slow approach with the young Turkish star, unlike the former Everton star. They may even consider a loan move if necessary.

However, bringing the 18-year-old will remain Newcastle’s only objective in the market for now. He could become a quality depth player in their squad but may not get a starting berth yet. The Magpies are already in the market to strengthen their first-team stars. They remain linked with bonafide stars like James Maddison.

They were also linked with a move for Nicolo Barella recently, which suggests Howe is serious about the team’s prospects for next season. As for Guler, he could either take up the Newcastle offer or wait for other top sides like Liverpool or Barcelona to come into the picture.
