Kylian Mbappe remains a target for Real Madrid, but the Spanish giants are concerned about Manchester United potentially pursuing him.
Spanish journalist Tomas Gonzalez-Martin has revealed Real Madrid’s fears in pursuing Kylian Mbappe. The Merengues are concerned about Manchester United launching the offensive to sign the French international. Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain will not let the Frenchman run down his contract and will look to sell him in the summer transfer window.
Kylian Mbappe has been the talk of the town since his breakthrough 2016/17 campaign at AS Monaco. The 24-year-old became a hot property in the market following that season, with the who’s who of European football pursuing him. But he chose to join Paris Saint-Germain, who signed him on loan in August 2017.
Les Parisiens completed a permanent move a year later, and the Frenchman has come leaps and bounds at Parc des Princes. Mbappe’s numbers in the recently-concluded season were remarkable, as he amassed 41 goals and ten assists in 43 appearances. But he is not signing a new contract with PSG and has a year remaining on his deal. Such a situation has alerted Real Madrid and Manchester United.
The former AS Monaco prodigy has been on Real Madrid’s radar for a long time. And Mbappe’s decision not to renew his PSG contract has forced Los Blancos into action. Widespread reports have pointed to Real Madrid being in the pole position to sign the player. But recent updates have revealed that they will pursue the 24-year-old next summer.
With Karim Benzema moving to Saudi Arabia, Mbappe is the ideal candidate to fill his compatriot’s void. But the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner recently quashed suggestions he wants to join Real Madrid this summer. Meanwhile, the Merengues are concerned about Manchester United’s links with the player.
Recent reports suggested Manchester United will not pursue the French international. But Tomas Gonzalez-Martin has revealed that the Red Devils remain in the hunt. And with Manchester United struggling for goals from players not named Marcus Rashford, the PSG talisman is a viable target.
