Juventus have reportedly slapped a €60 million price-tag on star winger Federico Chiesa amid interest from Liverpool.

According to Fichajes, Federico Chiesa has been transfer-listed for €60 million following the Old Lady’s ten-point deduction due to false accounting, and Liverpool are among the suitors. The Reds boss, Jurgen Klopp have shown great interest in the Italian playmaker and is pushing the club’s top-brass “to disburse the €60 million required by Juventus” to bring Chiesa to Anfield.

Chiesa, who was one of the stars of Italy’s European Championship success in 2021, had a difficult season after returning from an anterior cruciate ligament injury that kept him out of action for nearly 10 months. He started just six league games and managed four goals in his 33 appearances in all competitions.

The 25-year-old is said to be frustrated by the limited playing time he received in the months that followed and is supposedly open to a move to the Premier League if an opportunity presents itself. Likewise, Juventus are said to be mulling over whether or not to sell Chiesa this summer.

Following a miserable season in the Italian top flight, in which they were hit with a 10-point deduction, the Serie A giants are planning to lead an overhaul of their existing squad between now and the start of next season, having already let go of Angel Di Maria, Dejan Kulusevski, and Adrien Rabiot, among others.

Negotiations over a new contract have reportedly stalled as a result of Chiesa’s wage demands, which could see him shipped out in the near future as he enters the final two years of his existing deal. As such, he has no shortage of suitors, with top clubs all across Europe vying for his signature.

Liverpool are thought to have already enquired about Chiesa’s availability, while Newcastle United have also been credited with a desire to snap him up before Champions League football returns to St. James’ Park next season. Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern Munich are also said to be preparing a sizable bid for the Italian star.

Liverpool, for one, seem to have revived their interest in Chiesa after seeing a big-money bid in the region of £86 million rejected by Juventus two summers ago. The Reds are naturally undergoing something of a transitional phase right now, with a midfield exodus this summer preceded by the sale of distinguished attacker Sadio Mane one year ago.

Also, Roberto Firmino has bid farewell to a trophy-laden Liverpool career. Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, and Cody Gakpo have all arrived over the past 18 months, and there were flashes of brilliance in the pieces fitting together last season, despite the squad’s mediocre campaign, which saw them fail to qualify for the Champions League.

They have plenty of quality and strength in depth as far as the left-wing and centre-forward positions are concerned. But there is no player to cover for Salah on the right flank. Chiesa can effectively play on the right wing if needed.

At a reported €60 million, though, the Reds would be better off using those funds on areas of need in midfield and defence this summer to plug the holes in their ageing squad. However, if Juve drop their asking price even further, Chiesa becomes a nice attractive market opportunity for Liverpool.
