Arsenal have made a new verbal proposal for Kai Havertz worth £60 million, but Chelsea may hold out for slightly more.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have made a fresh move for Kai Havertz. The Gunners have verbally committed over a £60 million deal. But the Italian journalist insists they can close the transfer for around £65 million.
Things are moving in the right direction for Arsenal regarding their summer transfer targets. The Gunners have adopted an aggressive approach in this window and have swiftly moved in on their primary objectives. Mikel Arteta has been seeking a new attacker alongside two midfielders and a defender.
For the latter, David Ornstein confirmed late on Monday that Arsenal had made a bid for Jurrien Timber. Meanwhile, they have already lodged a second bid for Declan Rice, which West Ham rejected, but they are inching closer on each of those deals.
Furthermore, talks are advancing with Southampton for Romeo Lavia, but the two clubs are yet to agree on a fee. One of their other main objectives is Kai Havertz, with talks progressing smoothly between Arsenal and Chelsea after the Blues rejected a first bid.

Despite reports insisting on Bayern Munich’s interest in the attacker, Arsenal are the clear front-runners in the chase. Havertz reportedly has green-lit a move to Arsenal, and personal terms are not a problem, as there is optimism over an agreement.
The only issue is the fee agreement with Chelsea, with the Blues reportedly wanting more than £70 million initially. Arsenal were never going to pay that sort of money for a player, especially after a bad season at Stamford Bridge.
Yet, the Gunners are willing to pay a significant fee, with a compromise always expected between the two sides. Fabrizio Romano’s tweet, via information from Sami Mokbel, suggested that Arsenal have made a new offer, possibly a verbal one, for about £60 million.
The original report claims the Gunners had guaranteed £55 million and another £5 million in add-ons. Romano insists Chelsea might want slightly more and seek at least £65 million, but the Blues have not rejected this second proposal so far.
Overall, Arsenal’s fresh move for Havertz indicates they are willing to finish the deal. With the green light from the player, there’s plenty of optimism about concluding this transfer, and Havertz will soon become a Gunner.
