Lautaro Martinez keen on Chelsea transfer

A bid in the region of £60 million could see 25-year-old Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez snub Manchester United and join Chelsea.

According to Football Insider, Chelsea are keen on having Lautaro Martinez in their ranks. The Blues are desperately looking for a star striker and would love to have him at their disposal ahead of next season. Martinez is among the best strikers in world football, and quite a few clubs, including Manchester United, are interested in his services.

The 25-year-old had an exceptional season for both club and country. He helped his nation win the FIFA World Cup 2022 and played an integral role in his clubs’ sensational run in the Champions League where they ended up losing the final.

Martinez was involved in 57 matches for Inter throughout the season, he managed to find the back of the net on 28 occasions and also had 11 assists to his name. His red-hot form has attracted a lot of attention and there could be a bidding war for him.

While his contract at Inter runs until the summer of 2026, the 25-year-old could be on the move in the summer given the financial situation of the club. Inter are struggling financially, and do not really have any funds to work with during the summer.

If they want to sign players, they will first have to offload a few. And, selling Martinez will surely help them raise a significant transfer budget to work with. And as per reports, they are ready to let him leave for a fee of around £60 million.

Inter Milan and Chelsea have been involved in transfer-related talks for a while now. The Blues are interested in Andre Onana while Inter are interested in Romelu Lukaku, Kalidou Koulibaly and Trevoh Chabolah.

The two clubs are all set to meet again in the near future and a possible deal for Martinez will surely be discussed. The player is interested in moving to the Premier League, he is open to the idea of joining Chelsea and leading their attack.

The 25-year-old is a priority target for their new manager Mauricio Pochettino. The Blues struggled to score goals in the 2022-23 season and the former Spurs manager wants to sort it out by signing a star striker. He is a big fan of Martinez and believes his arrival will help solve their concerns.

Manchester United have been linked with the Argentine striker as well. They have been overly dependent on Marcus Rashford all season and need to add more depth to the position. Martinez would be a quality acquisition for both Premier League sides.
