Liverpool are ready to hold fresh talks with OGC Nice as they look to land their 23-year-old midfielder Khephren Thuram.
According to Caught Offside, Liverpool are keen on having Khephren Thuram in their ranks ahead of next season. He is believed to be an ideal player for Jurgen Klopp’s style of play, and the Merseyside club are in desperate need of a player with his qualities to revive themselves.
Liverpool struggled throughout the 2022/23 season and the majority of it was because of an inconsistent and ageing midfield. The Merseyside club are in desperate need of an overhaul in the centre of the park.
With Naby Keita, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain leaving, they are looking sign multiple midfielders in order to revive themselves. They have already acquired Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton. And, they still have room for at least two more signings.
To be precise, they are looking for a defensive-minded midfielder as a priority. And, Khephren Thuram seems to fit the bill perfectly. The 22-year-old has been in sensational form over the past year. The defensive midfielder has been a rock in front of his team’s defence throughout the season and also has 10 goal contributions.
He has been the mainstay of his team in the 2022/23 season. And, his performances have attracted a lot of attention. While his contract at Nice runs until the summer of 2025, it is certain that will be on his way to a bigger club in the summer.
Liverpool are one of the clubs who have been monitoring him for a while. They acted quite fast and initiated talks with the player’s entourage. The Merseyside club already have an agreement in place with the player but they are yet to strike a deal with OGC Nice.
The French club want the best possible deal and are looking to hike their asking price. They want more than the €45-50 million price that is currently being discussed. As a result, both parties are set to once again meet in the near future.
With Liverpool absolutely keen on having him at their disposal, they might end up agreeing to the demands of Nice. They will look to close out the deal as soon as possible to avoid any sort of last-minute intervention from elsewhere.
