Ousmane Dembele has been linked with a summer move away from Barcelona, with Chelsea interested in him.

According to a report from Fichajes, Barcelona are now prepared to sell Ousmane Dembele during the summer transfer window, with Chelsea keen on securing his services. The French winger has a release clause worth €50 million, and Chelsea certainly have the financial muscle to pay up.

Dembele seems to have gotten over his persistent injury problems, establishing himself as a key player for Xavi Hernandez this past season. The 26-year-old winger picked up eight goals and nine assists across all competitions, and his departure will certainly weaken the Barcelona attack.

However, the Catalan giants have limited financial resources, and they might need to sell some players in order to strengthen their squad adequately. Dembele is certainly a bankable asset for Barcelona, and he could help raise substantial funds this summer. But widespread reports have suggested that Barcelona are keen on tying him to a new deal.

There is no doubt that Chelsea need attacking reinforcements, and the French winger has emerged as a viable target. He would add pace, flair and creativity from the wide areas. The Blues could lose players like Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic during the summer transfer window. So they will have to replace those players adequately.

It remains to be seen whether the Frenchman is ready to move to the Premier League in the coming weeks, especially to a club without Champions League football. Dembele has been linked with a move to England in the past as well, with Chelsea a long-term suitor. But a transfer has never materialised.

Chelsea have been quite active in the transfer market under their new owners, and they have spent around €600 million on new signings. The Blues have the financial muscle to sign the Frenchman from Barcelona as well.

The reported €50 million release clause seems quite reasonable for a player of his qualities and he should be able to make an immediate impact and improve the Blues in the final third. If the 26-year-old can continue to stay fit, he would be an asset for the Blues in the coming seasons.
