Manchester United looking to steal a march on Tottenham for David Raya

David Raya has been linked with a summer move away from Brentford, with Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur interested.

According to a report from the Daily Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to sign David Raya in the summer transfer window. But they face a potential hijack from Manchester United in pursuit of the Spaniard. Brentford want £40 million to part ways with him this summer.

The Red Devils have reportedly looking to bring in a goalkeeper this summer, and they have identified the 27-year-old as a potential target. Raya has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League. So it is no surprise that the top clubs are looking to sign him.

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the player for months now, but they have not been able to finalise the deal for him. Apparently, the 27-year-old Spaniard is valued at £40 million but Tottenham are reluctant to pay up for him.

The report claims that Manchester United could enter the race late in the window once they have finalised signings to improve their attack and midfield. David De Gea will be out of contract this summer, and the Spaniard is yet to sign an extension with them. On top of that, Dean Henderson could leave Manchester United in search of regular playing time.

Manchester United might need to bring in a quality goalkeeper this summer, and Raya would certainly improve them. The 27-year-old is at the peak of his career, and he will want to play for a big club. Manchester United are in the Champions League, and the player could be tempted to join them.

In addition to that, the Red Devils have more financial resources compared to Tottenham, and they could offer him a lucrative contract. It will be interesting to see where the 27-year-old ends up eventually. It is evident that the Spaniard has outgrown Brentford, and he needs to move on to a bigger platform now.

He will be hoping to compete for trophies with Manchester United or Tottenham in the coming seasons. If Tottenham fail to finalise a deal for the goalkeeper in the coming weeks, they could end up missing out on him. Manchester United might have no problems being the £40 million asking price for the Spanish goalkeeper.
