Liverpool have been linked with a move for Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Matheus Nunes in recent weeks.

It is no secret that Liverpool are now looking to bring in multiple midfield reinforcements this summer. And Portuguese international Matheus Nunes was reportedly a target. However, a report from Liverpool Echo claims that the Reds have now moved on from the 24-year-old and are focusing on other players.

Liverpool have already signed Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton & Hove Albion, and they are thought to be looking at players like Manu Kone and Khephren Thuram. Nunes was a target for them a few weeks ago. But it seems that they have now abandoned their pursuit of the Premier League midfielder.

The 24-year-old has been an impressive player for Wolves, and he could have been a quality acquisition for Liverpool. It remains to be seen whether Liverpool can strengthen their midfield sufficiently before the summer transfer window closes.

2022/23 was a disappointing campaign for Liverpool, and they have missed out on Champions League qualification. They will be hoping to get back into the top four immediately and compete for major trophies.

Liverpool must look to bring in multiple central midfield reinforcements in the coming weeks. But it remains to be seen who they end up signing. Meanwhile, Nunes has been linked with other Premier League clubs as well, and it remains to be seen whether Wolves can hold on to him beyond this summer.
