Aston Villa are targeting a move for Hirving Lozano as Unai Emery plans a busy summer window to strengthen his squad.

According to Football Insider, Hirving Lozano has emerged as a target for Aston Villa ahead of the summer window. Unai Emery plans to land a right-sided attacker among other targets, with the Napoli star set to enter the final year of his deal.

There is a lot about to happen at Aston Villa as the Midlands club enter a pivotal summer window. With the previous season’s success as a pre-cursor, Unai Emery wants the right players to strengthen the squad as they embark on a European adventure after qualifying for the Conference League.

Villa also plan on bringing in a new sporting director to aid Emery’s plans, with Sevilla’s Monchi a likely target. Meanwhile, they have already started their business of getting players in after agreeing on a deal with Youri Tielemans on a free transfer from Leicester City.

Emery wanted to reinforce his attacking setup and remains keen to bring a right-sided attacker. A few weeks ago, they were firmly in the chase for free agent Marco Asensio, only for PSG to steal the march and sign him on a four-year deal from Real Madrid.

They were also linked with Luiz Henrique of Real Betis. But the Brazilian is still a young option. Emery might want an experienced head to add great value to his squad and have now set sights on Hirving Lozano. The Mexican is coming at the back of a great season with Napoli, but his time might end in Italy.

Lozano was a key player for Napoli in their Serie A title-winning season. After a long wait of 33 years, the club achieved the feat, and the 27-year-old played a crucial part in it. The Mexican will enter the final year of his deal in Naples, which has led to speculation about a possible departure.

Napoli have not signaled their intention to offer a new contract and was relatively open to offers in January. Hence, it is safe to assume they will not stand in Lozano’s way if he wishes to move on. Aston Villa are an interesting prospect and a team full of promising players.

Aston Villa will also be confident of a low price tag for the 27-year-old Serie A-winning attacker. Various reports have suggested Emery will have a healthy £150 million transfer kitty to spend in the summer. Hence, tying up deals on the cheap will let the manager focus on more essential players that would cost a significant sum.

As for Lozano, he could add plenty to this Aston Villa side. Emery has concerns about Leon Bailey and his fitness troubles. While they could keep the Jamaican in the side, adding someone like the 27-year-old Serie A-winning, attacker would provide him with the balance to rely upon a player regularly.
