Aston Villa are all set to battle it out with Manchester United for the services of 24-year-old Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams.
According to Football Insider, Aston Villa are keen on acquiring the services of Tyler Adams. The 24-year-old midfielder wants to quit Leeds United following their relegation and is expected to be on the move in the summer.
Manchester United are one of the clubs keen on having the American star in their ranks. But, they will face competition from Aston Villa who have just entered the race.
Adams made quite a name for himself while playing for RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga. He went from strength to strength while playing for the German club and on the back of his impressive performances Leeds United acquired him ahead of the 2022-23 season.
The English club paid around £20 million including add-ons to sign him. And, the American international repaid the faith with consistent performances throughout the season.
While the club struggled, he did put in some impressive shifts. And, his two-month-long absence towards the end of the season due to an injury left a big void in the team. Their struggles continued and they ended up getting relegated.
With them set to feature in the Championship next season, the 24-year-old has informed the club that he wants to leave just a year after joining them. And, they will have to anyhow sell quite a few players to balance the finances given that they will no longer have the huge Premier League broadcasting cash next season.
Leeds United are aware that they can secure around £35 million by offloading the American midfielder. Meanwhile, Manchester United are looking for a midfielder who can pair up with Casemiro in the centre of the park and they feel Adams can do wonders in that role.
They are looking to push for his signatures in the summer. However, the Red Devils are all set to face competition from Aston Villa. Unai Emery has done wonders since joining the English club and is now looking to strengthen his squad.
He wants to bolster his midfield as well as his attack. And, as far as the midfield goes, the 24-year-old is one of his targets. Adams has all the qualities that Emery is in search of. As a result, it will be interesting to see if they can strike a deal with Leeds United.
