Aston Villa interested in Cesare Casadei

Aston Villa will reportedly look to sign Cesar Casadei, who Chelsea might loan in the Premier League this summer.

According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercato, Cesare Casadei might temporarily leave Chelsea in the summer transfer window. The Blues want to see the 20-year-old whizkid progress exponentially in the coming season. And he is the subject of interest from Aston Villa and Brighton & Hove Albion.

Cesare Casadei spent most of his formative years in his homeland. He started at AC Cesena before moving to Inter Milan in July 2018. And the Italian midfield sensation came leaps and bounds during his stint with the Nerazzurri. But Chelsea snapped him up last summer before loaning him out to Reading in the January transfer window.

The 20-year-old made decent progress during his short stint with Reading, scoring once in 15 games. But Casadei has turned on the style during the ongoing FIFA Under-20 World Cup, raking in seven goals and one assist in six games. And ahead of Sunday’s final against Uruguay, the youngster is the front-runner to win the Golden Boot.

Considering he is primarily a box-to-box midfielder, cultivating a goalscoring habit bodes well for him. And the Italian midfielder is proving that he might be ready for Premier League football next season. But he might not get that at Chelsea, where the midfield options will likely be stacked.

So a loan move away from Chelsea in the summer transfer window should be on the cards for Casadei. And a few clubs are showing interest in the 20-year-old ahead of the 2023/24 season. Brighton & Hove Albion and Aston Villa are two of his prospective suitors.

Bolstering the midfield unit is a priority for Aston Villa this summer, with Tyler Adams emerging as a target. But after signing Youri Tielemans, it is unclear if another new midfielder signing is the need of the hour for the Villans. Nonetheless, Casadei has emerged as a viable target for Aston Villa.

But joining Brighton & Hove Albion might be a sensible decision for the 20-year-old Chelsea whizkid. The Seagulls have already lost Alexis Mac Allister, with Moises Caicedo also likely to depart. And with Roberto De Zerbi open to grooming youngsters, Casadei might benefit from a stint at the Amex Stadium.
