Manchester United could turn their attention towards Sofyan Amrabat and battle Barcelona for the Fiorentina midfielder.
According to Calciomercato, Manchester United are considering moving for Sofyan Amrabat. The Morrocan midfielder could become a cheaper alternative to Declan Rice. The Red Devils must compete with Barcelona for the Fiorentina star. And they are ready to pay €40 million to sign the Fiorentina talisman.
Fiorentina competed in the UEFA Europa Conference League final against West Ham United only two days ago. And after their defeat, Sofyan Amrabat bid goodbye to their fans. The Morrocan star could leave for a bigger challenge, something he has been keen on since last January.
Back then, Barcelona were reportedly interested in the midfielder. But the financial implications of any deal prevented a transfer from materialising. The Catalans have been searching for a holding midfielder, and Amrabat’s glowing performances for Morocco made him a target.
Barcelona are still in the race for Amrabat but again face the race against time to sort out their finances before entering the transfer market. Fabrizio Romano even tweeted, conveying the same message after the Europa Conference League final.

The uncertainty around Barcelona’s plans has allowed other clubs to shape up a move for the 26-year-old midfielder. Manchester United have entered the race, having been previously interested. The 26-year-old is not ideally their priority target, but an alternative on their shortlist.
Amrabat certainly has great stature in European football and will suit the Premier League. And Manchester United are ready to make a concerted effort given his fee is only around €40 million. They were in the race for Declan Rice. But they may have less chance with the huge price tag on the England international and Arsenal being favourites.
In truth, given the many requirements in the squad, Manchester United cannot afford to sign Declan Rice in the current climate. Amrabat will suit their system and steady the midfield for the next few seasons. Manchester United are ready to pay what’s needed for Amrabat and possibly bring him here if the conditions are right.
Erik ten hag may have had a different profile in mind when thinking about the ideal partner for Casemiro. Amrabat is a player like the Brazilian international. But the 26-year-old Barcelona target could strengthen the squad with his quality.
The Red Devils had often struggled when Casemiro got suspended for many games, and Amrabat gives them a steady option. For now, the player would ideally prefer a move to Barcelona if the conditions favoured him. However, there are doubts about whether that would transpire, given the €40 million requirement.
