Manchester United are reportedly willing to offer new terms to Victor Lindelof, with Erik ten Hag impressed by his recent performances.

According to a report by The Sun, Victor Lindelof might soon have a new contract on his table. The Swedish international has impressed Erik ten Hag with his performances in the absence of Lisandro Martinez. And Manchester United will offer him fresh terms in the coming weeks.

Victor Lindelof rose to prominence during his five-year stint with Benfica. The 28-year-old came leaps and bounds at the Portuguese club, establishing himself as one of the best defenders in the Primeira Liga. And Manchester United signed him in a deal worth £31 million in July 2017.

But Lindelof’s performance levels have wavered throughout his Manchester United stint. And while the Swede has been impressive in phases, he has been prone to the odd error. So it is hardly surprising that he has been in and out of the side, making 231 appearances for Manchester United.

Meanwhile, Lindelof’s stock has risen on the international stage. And he currently serves Sweden as the captain of the national side, becoming a pivotal figure for his homeland. In addition, he is on cloud nine after ending the 2022/23 season strongly. And his impressive performances have left an indelible mark on Erik ten Hag.

The 28-year-old was so impressive in the last few weeks that Manchester United will soon offer him a new deal. Reports in April had suggested that the Red Devils would only propose a short-term extension to him. But the situation has changed considerably in the last few weeks after his recent performances.

Reports in March had claimed that Erik ten Hag was pushing to keep Lindelof beyond the summer transfer window. And with Harry Maguire’s future uncertain, it is not sensible for Manchester United to part ways with two players. And the Red Devils are ready to offer Lindelof a new contract with fresh terms.

The report does not mention whether Manchester United will hike Lindelof’s wages considerably. But an improved salary should be on the cards. But it will be interesting to see if the Swede wants to remain at Old Trafford amid Manchester United’s links with Kim Min-jae.
