Tottenham and Everton are reportedly in contact to discuss a possible move for Jordan Pickford, whose price tag is £40 million.

According to a report by Football Transfers, Tottenham Hotspur will look to sign Jordan Pickford to replace Hugo Lloris in the summer transfer window. And the North London giants have contacted Everton to hash out a deal for the English international. The Toffees want £40 million to part ways with the goalkeeper.

Jordan Pickford spent most of his formative years with Sunderland but had to bide his time before becoming a first-team regular. The 29-year-old enjoyed his breakthrough at the Stadium of Light in the 2016/17 season. And after the Black Cats went down to the Championship, he moved to Everton in July 2017.

Since then, the English international has been a pivotal figure for his club and country. While the goalkeeper has been prone to the odd error, he remains an elite shot-stopper. And he has turned out nearly 250 times for Everton, keeping 62 clean sheets. But Pickford’s future is uncertain, with Tottenham keen on signing him.

The upcoming summer transfer window will be crucial for Tottenham as they look to rebuild the squad. Following Antonio Conte’s acrimonious departure, they are scouring for a new manager. In addition, Tottenham will not play any European football next season after finishing eighth in the Premier League.

So the new manager will have a tall order from the get-go, exacerbated by Hugo Lloris’s impending departure. The Tottenham captain has revealed this week that he is ready to leave the North London club. And even though Lloris had become error-prone, his exit will leave a gaping hole in the squad.

So Tottenham will have to scour the market for a viable replacement. And Pickford is reportedly the priority target to fill Lloris’s void at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The North London giants have now opened talks to sign the English international. And Everton will demand £40 million to part ways with him.

Considering Pickford’s contract runs until June 2027 and that he is at the peak of his powers, £40 million is a fair price. But the valuation might put Tottenham off and force them to look at alternate options. So it will be interesting to see if a move for the 29-year-old sees the light of day.
