Tottenham Hotspur are ready to spend up to £30 million to sign Kyogo Furuhashi should they manage to appoint Ange Postecoglou as their next manager.
According to The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur want Ange Postecoglou to bring 28-year-old Japan striker Kyogo Furuhashi with him from Celtic should they appoint the Australian as their new manager. Spurs are prepared to pay around £25–30 million fee for the Japan international forward.
Postecoglou has emerged as the overwhelming favourite to become the next permanent Tottenham manager. The Australian manager had just won a domestic treble by guiding Celtic to a 3-1 win against Inverness in the Scottish Cup final on Saturday. However, with a Tottenham approach now likely, that may be the Australian’s final game as Celtic manager.
Recent reports have suggested that Spurs’ offer will come after the cup final and that Celtic are growing increasingly concerned they’re about to lose Postecoglou. Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is said to be enamoured with Postecoglou, who is praised for his high-octane style of play, shrewd recruitment, and charisma.
Now, as per The Sun, Postecoglou is not the only key Celtic figure the Scottish champions could lose. The incoming Spurs boss will turn to Celtic marksman Kyogo Furuhashi as he prepares for life without Harry Kane at Tottenham.
Having arrived shortly after Postecoglou at Parkhead, Kyogo has proved to be an absolutely inspired signing for Celtic. And he has since racked up over 50 goals in 82 games for the Hoops in all competitions.
The frontman has enjoyed a spectacular season at Parkhead and has been crowned SFWA and PFA Scotland Player of the Year after scoring 34 goals this season, including in the Scottish Cup Final against Inverness Caley Thistle, helping the Celts achieve a historic treble.
The 28-year-old’s current Celtic contract expires in two years. But a potential move to follow Postecoglou to the Premier League could be too attractive to turn down for the Celtic fans’ favourite.
Like previous Tottenham bosses Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte, Postecoglou’s first job could be convincing England captain Kane to remain at the club next term. The report adds that Kyogo is viewed as “a partner, cover, or even eventual replacement” for Kane in the worst-case scenario by Tottenham and Postecoglou. It is claimed that Celtic would demand around £25–30 million to part company with their star striker this summer.
Kyogo’s movement, clever thinking, and ruthless finishing skills can be devastating attacking weapons. It’s no wonder Celtic are bracing themselves for plenty of offers for him in the upcoming transfer window.
