Kai Havertz “would be delighted” to leave Chelsea and reportedly join Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, as relayed by Sport Witness, Kai Havertz is ready to leave Chelsea in the summer transfer window. Real Madrid’s interest in the 23-year-old has turned his head. And he will be delighted to swap Stamford Bridge with Santiago Bernabeu.
Kai Havertz was one of the most highly-rated prospects in the world when he joined Chelsea from Bayer Leverkusen in 2020. But he has done little to justify the hype surrounding him, as he has been inconsistent in the last three seasons. However, to be fair to him, he has not played in his two preferred positions and instead as a striker.
Despite all that, the 23-year-old has been the top scorer for Chelsea since joining them three years ago. But Havertz’s market value has dropped to €60 million. However, that is hardly surprising, considering his tally of nine goals and one assist in 47 appearances. That has not impacted the player’s stock in the market, with Real Madrid among his prospective suitors.
Real Madrid will lose Marco Asensio and Eden Hazard as free agents in the summer transfer window. The Merengues officiated the duo’s departure with official statements this week. So Real Madrid will enter the market for an attacking reinforcement to replace the two players. And Havertz has emerged as a viable target in the last few weeks.
The German attacker might have struggled at Chelsea. But considering he will play on the right flank at Real Madrid, his numbers should improve. And the Blues are reportedly open to discussing a move for the 23-year-old with Real Madrid. The latest report has revealed Havertz’s stance over a summer deal.
The former Bayer Leverkusen talisman “would be delighted” to leave Chelsea and join Real Madrid. Meanwhile, Chelsea will reportedly demand €60 million to part ways with him in the summer transfer window. That should fit Real Madrid’s budget, considering they might not have to scour the market for Karim Benzema’s replacement.
So after three sub-par seasons, Chelsea and Havertz will likely part ways in the summer transfer window. And it will be interesting to see if the 23-year-old upgrades by moving to Real Madrid in the coming weeks.
