Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana, a target for Chelsea.

Andre Onana has been linked with the move away from Italy, and clubs like Chelsea are thought to be keeping tabs on him. A report from Sempre Inter claims that Tottenham have now made an enquiry for the Inter Milan goalkeeper.

It is no surprise that Tottenham are looking to sign a quality goalkeeper this summer. Club legend Hugo Lloris has been quite mediocre this season, and his error-prone performances have cost Tottenham valuable points.

The north London giants cannot afford to keep him as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper next season, and they need to bring in a quality replacement. Meanwhile, Onana has been a key player for Inter Milan and he is certainly one of the best goalkeepers in Serie A.

He has the ability to replace Lloris at Tottenham, and he could be a key player for the north London giants in the coming seasons. The 27-year-old is at the peak of his powers and he will look to make his mark in the Premier League if the transfer goes through.

He has been linked with clubs like Chelsea as well, and the Blues are in need of goalkeeping reinforcements as well. The Blues could lose Edouard Mendy in the summer, and Onana would be a quality addition.

It remains to be seen where the 27-year-old ends up eventually. Neither club can offer him European football next season after finishing outside the top seven. However, Chelsea have a more ambitious project and a formidable squad at their disposal.

Furthermore, they have ambitious owners who have spent around €600 million on new signings since the takeover. The Blues have the financial resources to pay Onana more money compared to Tottenham, and they are likely to challenge for the major trophies soon.

It will not be surprising if the 27-year-old goalkeeper is tempted to join them instead of Tottenham this summer. Tottenham are going through a transition phase, and they do not have a permanent manager or a sporting director at the club yet. The player could easily opt for a more stable project. But Spurs have made their first move, with the onus now on Chelsea to respond.
