Tottenham confident of winning James Maddison race

Tottenham hopes to secure James Maddison in the summer despite the looming threat of domestic rivals for the 26-year-old priority target.

According to Football Insider, Tottenham remains hopeful of signing James Maddison in the summer. The 26-year-old priority target is a hot property in the next window as he is certain to leave Leicester City after their relegation.

Tottenham have plenty of plans ahead of the summer window, with many objectives to achieve. First and foremost, they are keen to appoint a new manager to lead their project and possibly alongside a new sporting director.

They are also chasing several key stars in the market, with 26-year-old priority target James Maddison on top of their list. The Leicester City playmaker is one of the hottest properties in the English market following the Foxes’ relegation from the top flight.

He will want a move to a top club, something he has dreamed of for a long time. With a year left on his deal, Leicester will have no choice but to accept the offer even lower than their initial £60 million valuation. Clubs hope to take advantage of the situation and get the 26-year-old.

Tottenham are pushing to sign Maddison ahead of their rivals. The north London side have long wanted a creative presence on their side and might get the 26-year-old priority target this summer. Spurs have chased the Leicester man in previous windows and might start discussions soon.

Despite not qualifying for European competitions, Tottenham remains hopeful of securing the 26-year-old ahead of their rivals. Spurs only finished eighth in the league, and many think that could have an effect in attracting top names.

They might still face problems luring Maddison owing to the interest from rival clubs. Newcastle United were early favourites to bring the Coverntry-born attacking midfielder, but the onus is on Spurs to make a move happen.

There’s also interest from Arsenal in Maddison as Mikel Arteta looks for a new attacking talent in the window. It’s a big ask for Spurs to beat the Gunners in the current climate. The Red side of north London will have Champions League football and are an attractive proposition for any player, including Maddison.

He might choose the Gunners if there’s a battle, but any move will depend on the price tag. Arsenal and Tottenham will not look to pay over the odds considering they know Leicester’s situation over Maddison. For now, Spurs will keep pushing to sign the 26-year-old priority target, but many challenges are ahead.
