Manchester United are keen to bring Moussa Diaby in the summer window as a replacement for Anthony Martial in the team.

According to Fichajes, Manchester United hopes to lead the race for Moussa Diaby ahead of the summer window. Erik ten Hag reportedly wants the 23-year-old Real Madrid target to replace Anthony Martial, with the club ready to sanction a sale for the 27-year-old.

Anthony Martial’s time may have come to an end as a Manchester United player, as the player has failed to convince Erik Ten Hag of his qualities. The French attacker has been in and out of the side in the last few seasons, failing to replicate his form under former boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Martial has suffered from a series of injuries and form-related issues that have seen him start fewer games. Ten Hag has selected him whenever available, but that may not prove sufficient for the club in the long run. Hence, Manchester United are ready to sanction a sale for the attacker, with the manager already pinpointing towards a replacement.

Moussa Diaby emerged as a target for Manchester United lately, and the club could further their interest with a concrete approach. The 23-year-old Real Madrid target has been in high demand following yet another good season with Bayer Leverkusen and could move clubs in the close season.

Arsenal, Newcastle United and Real Madrid had shown an interest much before Manchester United entered the frame. The winger’s talents could improve all those sides for next season, but the competition seems intense.

Ten Hag wants Diaby to come in and take Martial’s place in the squad. The idea is not out of the question, but much will depend on the money involved in the deal. Leverkusen will look to encash and angle for a higher transfer fee, but English sides, especially Manchester United, will look to negotiate.

Real Madrid may view Diaby as a solid option for their team, particularly with Marco Asensio set for a departure. They will need a viable replacement in quality, and the 23-year-old certainly has that. Whether they can beat the competition from the English side remains the question.

Manchester United will certainly have a decent proposal to tempt the 23-year-old Real Madrid target into joining them. Champions League football aside, the Red Devils are also keen to challenge for the Premier League title next season as they progress under Ten Hag.
