Real Madrid captain Karim Benzema is reportedly ready to leave Real Madrid to join Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad this summer.

According to reputed French journalist Santi Aouna, Karim Benzema has taken a decisive call on his future. The Real Madrid captain has informed Carlo Ancelotti that he wants to join Al-Ittihad in the summer transfer window. And the agreement between the Frenchman and the Saudi Arabian club is close.

Karim Benzema has forged a lasting legacy since joining Real Madrid from Lyon nearly a decade and a half ago. The 35-year-old was a prodigious young striker when he arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu. And he has fulfilled the immense potential he showed back then to become the most successful player in Real Madrid history.

No player has won more trophies with Real Madrid than Karim Benzema, who has even lifted the prestigious Ballon d’Or during his ongoing stint. And despite enduring fitness issues this season, he has an excellent record of 30 goals and six assists in 42 appearances. But the veteran striker’s Real Madrid future is uncertain.

Recent reports have claimed that the Frenchman is the subject of interest from Saudi Arabian clubs. And it has recently emerged that the team most interested in securing Benzema’s services is Al-Ittihad. Now, Santi Aouna has revealed that the experienced striker wants to join Al-Ittihad.

The French journalist has revealed that Benzema has spoken with Carlo Ancelotti. And the Real Madrid captain has confirmed his desire to leave and join Al-Ittihad. But the Merengues are not giving up any hopes of convincing him to stay, although the chances are slim.

Recent reports have suggested that the 35-year-old will leave Real Madrid in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, the reliable Manu Sainz has claimed that the agreement between the veteran Frenchman and Al-Ittihad is close. So a summer departure is on the cards for the Real Madrid captain.

It will be interesting to see if Real Madrid can do anything to turn Benzema’s head and keep him at the Bernabeu. For now, the 35-year-old is seemingly closing in on joining Al-Ittihad in the summer transfer window.
