Arsenal and Manchester City are interested in acquiring the services of 19-year-old Leeds United winger Wilfried Gnonto.
According to Calciomercato, Arsenal and Manchester City are keen on having Wilfried Gnonto in their ranks. The 19-year-old winger was on fire in his very first season in the Premier League and his performances have attracted a lot of attention.
With Leeds United relegated to the EFL Championship, the Italian international’s future has become the talk of the town. Even before he made the move to England, there were numerous clubs interested in his services. And, now on the back of an impressive season in England, Arsenal and Manchester City are closely following the teenage sensation.
Gnonto came through the ranks at Inter Milan before joining Swiss club FC Zurich. He spent two years at the Swiss club and went from strength to strength. The 19-year-old managed to make quite a name for himself and was signed by Leeds ahead of the ongoing season.
While the teenager has done his bit, the club as a whole haven’t been good enough. They were relegated to the Championship on the last day of the season. Meanwhile, Gnonto has featured in 28 matches for Leeds and has been involved in eight goals. He scored four and assisted the remaining four. His performances have attracted the attention of the big guns in England.
While the 19-year-old’s contract with Leeds runs until the summer of 2027, Gnonto could push for a move away after post-relegation. And, he is not the only player from the team in white who will be considering his future post their shocking return to the English second division.
Mikel Arteta is keen on adding more firepower to his ranks, his team fell short in the title race by the smallest of margins and he will try everything in his power to make sure they end up on the right side next time.
With the Gunners back in the Champions League, they will need a bigger squad with more quality and acquiring the services of Gnonto will surely help their cause. However, they are not the only ones keen on having the winger at their disposal, even Manchester City are willing to go the distance.
Pep Guardiola’s team is always on the lookout for young talented players who can add more value to their squad and the Italian international seems to be a great fit. With Manchester City and Arsenal set to square up against each other, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top in this transfer tussle.
