Aston Villa leading the race for the signatures of Leicester City winger Harvey Barnes amidst interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

According to Ben Jacobs via GIVEMESPORT, Aston Villa are confident of acquiring the services of Harvey Barnes. The 25-year-old winger’s future is uncertain and there are numerous clubs in England that are keen on having him in their ranks. But, reports suggest Villa are leading the race.

Barnes has come up the ranks at Leicester and has managed to establish himself as one of their most important players. The England international has scored the most number of goals for the Foxes in the ongoing season.

While the club have struggled, the 25-year-old has done his bit with 12 goals and three assists in his 39 outings. And, his performances have attracted a lot of attention of late.

Barnes could be on the move in the upcoming transfer window despite having a contract with the club that runs until the summer of 2025. As per reports, Leicester will accept a £50 million bid for the 25-year-old.

And, the price could take a hit if they end up getting relegated which looks highly likely given the fact that they are 18th in the league with a game to go. The Foxes will have to win their last fixture and then hope that other results go their way for their survival in the top flight.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa are keen on having him in their ranks. They are ready to put forward a decent financial package to acquire the services of the 25-year-old. And, their manager Unai Emery is quietly confident about signing Barnes.

Jacobs told GIVEMESPORT: “Aston Villa, I think, are the most aggressive of the Premier League suitors at this point. Spurs have taken a look in the past as well.

“I think there’s going to be a fair amount of competition for Barnes. I think that Villa are quietly confident that if they advance things at the end of the season, they will stand a very realistic chance of getting Barnes. Also, the asking price will be very beneficial to them if Leicester go down.”

Emery believes his arrival could help strengthen their attack and he would surely be an upgrade on the left flank. Villa believe that if Leicester go down, they will be in pole position to acquire his signatures.

Meanwhile, they can face competition from Tottenham Hotspur who have been monitoring Barnes for a while now. Spurs are looking for attacking reinforcement ahead of next season and have their eyes on the England international.

They haven’t been at their best in the ongoing season and will enter the market in search of players who can help them push for titles next season. And, Barnes will surely be a great addition to their ranks.
