Tottenham lead race to sign David Raya

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a summer move for Brentford goalkeeper David Raya, valued at £40 million.

A report from GiveMeSport claims that David Raya is on the radar of several high-profile clubs. But Tottenham Hotspur are currently leading the chase for him. Meanwhile, Brentford will demand £40 million to part ways with him.

Rudy Galetti told GMS, “At the moment, we can say Spurs are leading the race for the Spanish goalkeeper. He’s considered one of the main targets to replace Lloris, who unless a sensational twist, will say goodbye in June. As for the coach situation, there will be concrete developments only when the new director has been chosen.”

The 27-year-old Spaniard has proven his quality in the Premier League with Brentford. And the opportunity to play for a big club like Tottenham will be attractive for him. It is no secret that Tottenham will have to sign a quality goalkeeper this summer.

Club legend Hugo Lloris has been a shadow of his former self, and the 36-year-old has cost his side valuable points with error-prone performances. The French international has a contract with Tottenham until the summer of 2024. But he needs to be replaced as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper this summer. David Raya could prove to be a quality long-term acquisition.

The 27-year-old Spanish international is at the peak of his career and he could make an immediate impact at the London club. He is well-settled in the Premier League and might not need a lot of time to adapt to a new club.

Tottenham have had a disappointing season so far, and they have missed out on Champions League qualification. They will be looking to get back into the top four next year. So they need to bring in better players in order to do that.

Signing a top-quality goalkeeper should be their top priority right now. Apparently, Raya is valued at £40 million, and Tottenham certainly have the financial resources to afford him. The 27-year-old is a proven performer in the Premier League. And the £40 million asking price seems reasonable in today’s market.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham are willing to pay up for him. The North London club will have to bring in a quality manager first. They are yet to replace Antonio Conte permanently, and former midfielder Ryan Mason is currently the interim manager of the club.
