Roberto Firmino is set to leave Liverpool at the end of the season, and AC Milan hope to sign the Brazilian attacker during the summer transfer window.

Roberto Firmino will be a free agent in the summer, and he has decided not to renew his contract with the Liverpool, as per Calciomercato. The 31-year-old has been a key player for Liverpool over the years, and his departure will certainly come as a blow to them.

Losing a player of Firmino’s quality as a free agent is certainly a setback. So it remains to be seen how Liverpool cope with his absence. The Brazilian international has 12 goals across all competitions this season, and he could prove to be a quality acquisition for AC Milan.

The Serie A outfit need to add more depth to their attack, and Firmino will add goals and creativity to the side. The Brazilian is capable of playing a number of attacking positions at a high level, and he could be an asset for the Italian club.

He has proven himself in Germany and England over the years and will be hoping to try out a new challenge at this stage of his career. A move to Italy could be ideal for him. The lower intensity of Serie A football could prolong his career and help him perform at a high level for the foreseeable future.

Milan are certainly one of the biggest clubs in the world. And the opportunity to join them could be an attractive proposition for Firmino. The Brazilian has won every single trophy at club level with Liverpool, and he will be hoping to make his mark in Italian football if the move goes through.

Signing a player of his quality on a free transfer could prove to be a masterstroke from the Serie A giants. AC Milan have had a disappointing season this year, and they will be hoping to get back to challenging for league titles next year. So it is hardly surprising that they have approached the 31-year-old Liverpool veteran.

Signing a proven winner like Firmino will certainly help them in that regard. Apart from being a top-class player, Firmino will bring leadership qualities into the Milan dressing room as well. Meanwhile, Divock Origi is linked with a summer departure. So his former Liverpool teammate might be his replacement at San Siro.
