Aston Villa are interested in acquiring the services of 32-year-old Leeds United forward Rodrigo Moreno ahead of next season.

According to a report by Fichajes, Aston Villa want to sign Rodrigo Moreno in the upcoming transfer window. Unai Emery has requested the club to land the 32-year-old Leeds forward at the club ahead of next season. Moreno’s future at Leeds is uncertain as the club is on the brink of getting relegated from the Premier League.

The Spain international joined Leeds United back in the summer of 2020. He moved to the English club as they wanted to take the next step and strengthen their position in the English top flight. While the player has done his bit, the Whites, as a whole, have failed to achieve their ambitions.

They are currently 18th in the league, two points behind 17th-placed Everton with just one game to go. Leeds are likely to get relegated, and if they do end up in the English Championship for next season, the 32-year-old forward will look for a move elsewhere.

Despite the club’s struggle in the ongoing season, the Spain international has done a decent job. He has been involved in 34 matches and has 17 goal contributions. He has found the back of the net on 15 occasions and has two assists to his name.

With Moreno considering his future, Villa have emerged as a potential destination for the 32-year-old. They are in search of a new forward and Moreno could be their man. Their boss Unai Emery wants him at Villa Park ahead of next season.

The former Valencia attacker has done wonders for Emery in the past, and he could be a great addition to the ranks of Villa. He is a versatile forward who can feature in different positions and given his track record under the Spanish manager, the duo can surely help Villa take the next step.

He will bring in a lot of experience and having already featured in the biggest tournaments in world football, Moreno could give Villa the edge that they so desperately need to compete with the best in England. As of now, there is no concrete offer from Villa’s end. But given the relationship between Emery and Moreno, it won’t be a surprise to see him at Villa Park next season.
