Manchester United are ready to offer Mateo Mejia a new deal to secure his future before loaning him out to aid his development.

According to The Sun, Manchester United are stepping up their efforts to secure the future of Mateo Mejia. The 20-year-old prodigious striker’s contract expires in June, with the club keen to hand him a new deal and send him out on loan to aid his development.

Manchester United are making plenty of plans to bolster their squad and secure the future of their existing talents. Erik ten Hag is keen on strengthening the squad using the summer transfer window and bring in necessary stars in different positions.

One of the key aspects of their window will focus on the search for a new striker. Names like Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen got mentioned as targets. There is still no certainty on who might actually join the Red Devils in the upcoming window.

They are also ironing out the contracts of key players and may have begun the process with the recent extension of Alejandro Garnacho. They are also advancing talks to tie up Facundo Pellistri’s future. Now, Manchester United are keen to hand Mateo Mejia a new deal and cement his future.

The 20-year-old prodigious striker is a huge talent for those in charge of the club. He has had injury troubles since arriving from Real Zaragoza in 2019 but excelled when called upon. Mejia was also called up to train with the senior squad earlier this year when Marcus Rasford got injured.

While he is yet to make a senior appearance for the club, ten Hag and other coaches consider him a massive prospect. Manchester United are already looking to bolster their academy teams with talents from elsewhere. They also want to ensure they keep their current ones at the club.

Mejia is currently with the Colombia Under-20 squad for the Under-20 World Cup in Indonesia. Manchester United are keen to hand him a new deal and cement his long-term future at the club. His current deal expires in the summer, but the Red Devils want to extend and send him out on loan to gain senior experience.

Mejia may seem on the cusp of first-team action, something the club want to transition into. A few good clubs should come in with offers for the 20-year-old prodigious striker. He could then showcase his talents and stake a claim in one of the future Manchester United senior squads.
