Chelsea are keen to beat Tottenham and Manchester United to the signature of Gent sensation Gift Orban.

According to Voetbal Krant, Premier League giants Chelsea are keen to trump Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in the efforts to land Gent star Gift Orban.

The 20-year-old has been a standout performer at the Ghelamco Arena and continues to attract attention from some of European football’s top teams. The fact that he is already attracting such interest a mere six months after joining Gent speaks volumes.

Primarily a centre forward, Orban is versatile enough to play anywhere along the frontline. This versatility will make him a key addition to several top sides. A return of 19 goals and two assists from 19 games for Gent is an extremely sensational return.

Chelsea appear to be ahead of the competition in their pursuit of the player and could add him to a plethora of young talents brought in under Todd Boehly. Despite their recent investment, Chelsea are well aware of Orban’s potential and remain adamant about not missing out on a future world-beater.

The Blues need a capable finisher and Orban is just that. Despite not yet reaching his full potential, his prodigious ability is clear for all to see. A solid passer of the ball, his vision and movement complement his ability to find the back of the net on a consistent basis. Orban, however, is lacking when it comes to aerial prowess. At 20, there is still time for him to work on it.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are preparing a bid to sign the 19-goal striker from Belgian giants Gent. Should he move to Stamford Bridge, the Blues are open to loaning him out. Another stint in Belgium or a lower league will help aid his development rather than force him into rushing it.

Manchester United are also in need of another attacker, especially given Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial’s uncertain futures. Antony, too, has failed to deliver consistently and has fallen short of expectations. The Red Devils’ scouts have already given a glowering appraisal of the youngster’s potential ahead of the summer transfer window.

Tottenham are also in the fray as they seek to rebuild next summer. With no manager and seemingly no long=term vision, Daniel Levy is in need of a decisive recruitment strategy. The North Londoners struck gold with Gareth Bale last decade and could repeat the trick by moving fast for Orban.

For now, Chelsea appear to be the side more intent on putting their money where it’s worth. Other teams might just be provoked into joining the race for the 20-year-old.
