Manchester United are pushing to sign 26-year-old Liverpool target Kim Min-jae with Napoli keen for the South Korean to stay.

Journalist Santi Aouna claims Manchester United have already submitted an important financial proposal to Kim Min-jae. After an impressive season with Napoli, the Red Devils are keen on the defender but face competition from arch-rivals Liverpool.

Kim Min-jae has been as important as Victor Osimhen to Napoli as they clinched their first league title in 33 years. In the aftermath of a terrific season involving some brilliant individual performances, the likelihood of some top clubs coming for those stars remains high.

There are already heavy links from the Premier League to sign Victor Osimhen, but there’s also interest in Kim Min-jae. The 26-year-old Liverpool target has put in some key performances for Napoli this season, with the Serie A giants eager to keep him on board.

Napoli are open to offering him a new contract that could see a big pay rise for the 26-year-old. However, those Premier League clubs are lurking in the background, willing to blow Napoli out of the water with a mammoth financial proposal for the 26-year-old.

Liverpool were the early front-runners, but now Manchester United may have taken the march in the chase. The Red Devils have reportedly tabled an important financial proposal, which has the South Korean excited.

Manchester United were already considering improving Kim Min-jae’s current salary and nearly quadrupling it with an €8 million per year offer. That figure also dwarfs Napoli’s ideas of a new contract for the 26-year-old Liverpool target.

Moreover, earlier reports indicated the presence of a £43 million release clause in the South Korean’s contract, which will reportedly be valid for two weeks in July. That’s a big backdoor for any top club to sign the 26-year-old.

As per the journalist, Kim Min-jae is open to signing for Manchester United and insists a decision could materialise in the coming weeks. Liverpool are also in the race, as they will look at the reported release clause and consider paying up.

Jurgen Klopp is keen on a new defender. But Manchester United could usurp the Merseysiders by offering a higher pay package. Erik ten Hag remains eager to add a new centre-back and wants someone to replace Harry Maguire on the side.

Kim Min-jae has a bright future, but the 26-year-old will have to make an important decision. That also includes staying pout at Napoli, where he has earned his stars as one of the formidable defenders in Europe.
