Manchester United are all set to offer an €8 million-a-year contract to 26-year-old Napoli centre-back Kim Min-jae.

According to Calciomercatoweb, Manchester United are set to lure Kim Min-jae to Old Trafford with an €8 million-a-year contract. The 26-year-old centre-back has been integral to Napoli’s success in the ongoing season. And multiple clubs from across Europe are keen on having him in their ranks.

Kim joined Napoli ahead of the ongoing season. He was bought to fill up the big boots of Kalidou Koulibaly. Their 31-year-old centre-back joined Chelsea, and the Serie A champions were in a spot of bother when they decided to go for the South Korean international as his replacement.

However, he has turned out to be the perfect player for the Italian giants who have managed to win the Serie A title after decades. Kim has played a huge role in their success in the league as well as their run in the Champions League, which ended in the quarter-finals.

The 26-year-old has featured in 43 matches and has been involved in four goals. The South Korean international’s contract at Napoli runs until the summer of 2025. However, he is likely to be on the move in the summer because of the release clause in his contract.

There is a clause of around €50 million that can lead to his departure and Manchester United are all set to trigger it. The Red Devils have been interested in the 26-year-old for a while now. And, they are all set to trigger his release.

Erik ten Hag wants more stability in defence. He wants to add a reliable cover for Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez, who have done great for the Red Devils but have also struggled with injuries. Adding Kim to the mix will allow ten Hag to have multiple options, and it will take the Manchester United defence to the next level.

With Manchester United ready to pay the release clause, all they have to do is to convince the player to join them at Old Trafford. The 26-year-old earns around €2 million per year at Napoli. And the Red Devils are willing to offer him an €8 million-a-year contract.

They are ready to give him a significant pay hike to join them. And it will be interesting to see if Kim is willing to take the next step and join United ahead of next season. For now, an €8 million-a-year contract is seemingly on the cards for the 26-year-old.
