Newcastle United have reportedly been linked with a move for Pau Torres at the end of the season.

Newcastle United are looking to bring in defensive reinforcements, and Pau Torres could prove to be a quality acquisition. A report from Calciomercatoweb claims that the Magpies could look to make a move for the Spanish international, valued at €40 million by Villarreal, at the end of the season.

Torres has been a key player for Villarreal over the last few seasons, and he has been linked with a move to England for a while. It remains to be seen whether Newcastle United can agree on a deal with the Spanish club in the coming months.

Newcastle have been quite impressive defensively this season, and they have conceded the fewest number of goals in the league. They are looking to improve their defensive options, and Torres could certainly prove to be an upgrade on players like Dan Burn and Fabián Schar.

The 26-year-old could form a quality partnership alongside Sven Botman at the heart of Newcastle’s defence in the years to come. Newcastle won’t be the only English club looking to sign the Spanish international this summer. But they could face competition from a number of other Premier League clubs as well.
