The Blaugrana recently met with the Spanish duo’s agent, discussing their futures during a meeting about Jordi Alba. And they are considering raiding La Liga clubs Valencia and Villarreal for the players.
Hugo Guillamon has been with Valencia since he was nine years old. And after rising through the ranks at the Spanish club, he made his first-team debut in February 2020. Since then, the 23-year-old has come leaps and bounds at the Mestalla. And in a season where Los Che might face relegation from La Liga, the youngster has been a rare shining light.
On the other hand, Pau Torres has established himself as one of the best defenders in La Liga since enjoying a breakthrough 2019/20 campaign at Villarreal. The Spanish international has made over 150 appearances for the Yellow Submarine, chipping in with 12 goals and five assists. And Hugo Guillamon and Pau Torres have impressed Barcelona with their progress in the last few years.
Barcelona will delve into the market for a left-footed centre-back in the summer transfer window. The Catalan giants have been scouring the market for such a player since shipping Samuel Umtiti and Clement Lenglet out on loan last summer. Recent reports have linked Barcelona with Inigo Martinez.
But with the Athletic Club defender’s signing not set in stone, it behoves Barcelona to have alternatives on the shortlist of centre-backs. Pau Torres is thus a viable target for the Blaugrana heading into the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, the interest in Guillamon comes in the wake of a recent announcement.
Sergio Busquets will leave Barcelona at the end of the season. And the Barcelona captain’s exit will leave a gaping hold in the midfield department.
