Manchester United are all set to table an offer for the 25-year-old Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong as they look to land him at the club.

According to a report by Fichajes, Manchester United are interested in acquiring the services of Frenkie de Jong. The 25-year-old midfielder has been on their radar for a while now, and they are ready to once again push for his services.

Manchester United have been interested in signing the Dutch international for a few years now. And, their interest in him has increased post the arrival of Dutch manager Erik ten Hag at the club. The former Ajax boss has already worked with the midfielder back in the day and would love to have him at his disposal for next season.

De Jong came through the ranks at Ajax and became an integral part of their first team setup. His performances for the Dutch club attracted the attention of multiple clubs from across Europe. And, Barcelona managed to outbid others to sign him back in the summer of 2019.

The Catalan giants paid around €85 million for the 25-year-old. While he has done a decent job since arriving at the club. The Dutch international has not reached the heights everyone expected him to.

He has been involved in 38 matches so far this season and has four goal contributions. While he has been a constant feature in Xavi’s team, the 25-year-old has not been able to impress the Spanish manager. And, he could be subject to a move in the summer. Barcelona are in desperate need to offload players before they think of signing new ones.

Xavi is keen on bringing in reinforcement but for that, they will have to offload a few of their valuable assets. And, the departure of the 25-year-old could surely raise a significant amount. Manchester United have been linked with de Jong multiple times over the past few seasons. And, with Ten Hag in charge, they are all set to table a bid for the 25-year-old in the summer.

The Dutch manager wants to sign a world-class midfielder who can pair up with Casemiro in the centre of the park. And, the Dutch international seems to be a perfect fit for Manchester United. And, having already worked with ten Hag, it won’t take him long to adjust to the system. As a result, it will be interesting to see if Manchester United can finally manage to land de Jong.
