Manchester United and Manchester City are reportedly ready to compete for the Napoli defender Kim Min-jae.

Kim Min-jae has been a key player for Napoli, helping them to the Serie A title this season. A report from Fichajes claims that Manchester City and Manchester United are prepared to pay around €60 million for his services.

Kim Min-jae was brought in as a replacement for Kalidou Koulibaly, who joined Chelsea last summer. The South Korean international has made an immediate impact at the Italian club and managed to fill the void left by the Senegal defender.

The 26-year-old has established himself as one of the most reliable defenders in European football right now and he would improve both English clubs. And Manchester City and Manchester United are reportedly ready to offer €60 million to sign the player.

The defender has proven his quality in Serie A with Napoli, and he could be tempted to move to the Premier League at the end of the season. The opportunity to play for Manchester United and Manchester City could prove to be hard to turn down.

Manchester United have shown tremendous improvement under new manager Erik ten Hag, and they have already won the League Cup this season. While the €60 million fee could look like a steep price right now, the defender certainly has the potential to justify the outlay in the long run. Manchester City must look to bring in an upgrade on players like Manuel Akanji and Aymeric Laporte, whereas Manchester United will have to replace the likes of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof if they decide to move on.

The two defenders of fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford, and they might need to leave the club this summer in order to play regular first-team football once again. The South Korean could fill the void left by them.
