Ruben Neves has been linked with a summer move away from Wolverhampton Wanderers, with Barcelona and Manchester United linked.

According to reports Ruben Neves was a target for Barcelona, who are seeking a long-term replacement for club legend, Sergio Busquets. However, Fichajes claims that Xavi Hernandez is looking for a different type of player as a replacement for the Spaniard. So Barcelona are unlikely to make a move for the Portuguese star, a target for Manchester United.

Neves is a proven performer in the Premier League, and he has attracted the attention of clubs like Manchester United as well. Meanwhile, his market value has risen considerably since then, and it currently stands at €40 million.

The 26-year-old would be a quality acquisition for Manchester United, and it remains to be seen whether they can agree on a fee with Wolves. The Red Devils need to bring in midfield reinforcements at the end of the season. They will have to find a quality partner for Casemiro and Neves seems like the ideal fit.

He will add composure and control at the base of Manchester United’s midfield. His ability to chip in with goals from the long range will be an added bonus. Meanwhile, Barcelona are going through financial difficulties right now, and they might find it difficult to afford a player like Neves. He is unlikely to leave for cheap, considering his market value stands at €40 million.

Barcelona have been linked with the Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, who will be a free agent in the coming weeks. The German international is expected to leave Manchester City, and he could prove to be an inexpensive acquisition for the Catalan giants. It remains to be seen whether Neves can secure a move away from Molineux this summer.

The 25-year-old has attributes to develop into a top-class player, and he deserves to play for a club competing in European competitions. He has proven himself in the Premier League since joining Wolves, and he could make an immediate impact at clubs like Manchester United. Recent reports have claimed that the 26-year-old is ready to listen to offers from English clubs.

As for Barcelona, Busquets has been a key performer for them over the years, and they will have to replace him adequately at the end of the season. Their decision to move away from Neves is hardly a surprise given the fact that the 26-year-old is an exceptional passer. But he is simply not as good as Busquets defensively.
