Sadio Mane has been linked with a summer move away from Bayern Munich, with Chelsea and Newcastle United keen.

Sadio Mane joined Bayern Munich from Liverpool last summer. But things are not going according to plan for him. A report from Fichajes claims that Newcastle United and Chelsea are now keen on signing the Liverpool legend in the coming months.

Mane has not been able to hit top form since his move to Bayern Munich, and he has 12 goals and five assists to his name across all competitions. Meanwhile, the Liverpool legend has seen his market value drop to €45 million.

The 31-year-old was expected to fill the void left by Robert Lewandowski. In addition to his underwhelming form, Mane has had problems with his teammates, and he was recently involved in a scuffle with Leroy Sane. It seems that the German club are willing to cut their losses on him and offload him during the summer transfer window.

The player has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea in recent weeks. But Newcastle United have now joined the Blues in the chase, and it remains to be seen whether the Magpies can secure his signature.

Chelsea need to bring in someone who will add goals to the side. And the 31-year-old was a proven goalscorer for Liverpool during his time in the Premier League. He has the experience of quality to make an immediate impact at Stamford Bridge. Meanwhile, Newcastle United need to find an upgrade on Allan Saint-Maximin.

The French international winger has been largely underwhelming this season, and Newcastle must look to bring in an alternative. Mane could prove to be an upgrade on the Newcastle winger if he manages to regain his form and confidence. Furthermore, the Bayern Munich star is capable of playing anywhere across the front three, and his versatility will be an added bonus for Newcastle.

Given the fact that Bayern signed the Liverpool legend for a fee of around €32 million during the summer transfer window, he is unlikely to be a cheap acquisition. Bayern Munich will look to recoup most of what they paid for him.

While Newcastle and Chelsea have the financial resources to pay up for the Senegal international, Mane is already 31 and is unlikely to get better with the time. It could prove to be a poor bit of business in the long run.
