Manchester United are closing in on the signatures of 22-year-old right-back Jeremie Frimpong who is on the radar of Real Madrid.

According to SportBild, Manchester United are likely to strike a deal with Bayer Leverkusen for the services of Jeremie Frimpong. The 22-year-old right-back is also on the radar of Real Madrid. However, the report suggests that he is inclined towards a move to the English giants.

Frimpong started off at the Manchester City youth academy. He came through the ranks at City but could not force himself into their first team. The 22-year-old decided to join Celtic in the summer of 2019. After a successful stint in Scotland, the full-back moved to Germany.

Bayer Leverkusen bought the 22-year-old in the winter of 2021. And, he has since gone from strength to strength. The former Celtic defender has established himself as a key part of their first team. He has made a total of 89 appearances and has 30 goal contributions during his time in Germany.

In the ongoing season, he has featured in 42 matches. The 22-year-old has found the back of the net on nine occasions and also has 10 assists to his name. His performances have attracted a lot of attention. The likes of Real Madrid and Manchester United are ready to push for the services of Frimpong.

Los Blancos are looking to sign a new right-back in the summer. Dani Carvajal is past his prime and the 31-year-old hasn’t been consistent enough of late. As a result, Carlo Ancelotti is keen on having a new right-sided full-back in his ranks.

Frimpong is one of the players on the radar of Real Madrid. The 22-year-old has managed to impress the people at the club. However, they feel he might be beyond their reach given his interest in moving to England.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are keen on adding a new right-back into the mix. The future of Aaron Wan-Bissaka is uncertain, despite his heroics in the past few months, United could part ways with the 25-year-old in the summer.

Erik ten Hag is looking for a more attacking option and he believes the 22-year-old could be a great addition to their ranks. And, even the player is in favour of moving to England in the summer.
