Arsenal and Aston Villa are keen on 23-year-old Barcelona star Ferran Torres, who could return to the Premier League.

According to Fichajes, Arsenal and Aston Villa are keeping tabs on Ferran Torres’ situation ahead of the summer. Barcelona are under pressure to raise funds, and the 23-year-old has not convinced them enough to keep his place in Xavi Hernandez’s squad for next season.

Barcelona have plenty of problems to deal with ahead of the summer. With the Catalans racing away with the La Liga title, they have financial troubles looming big over their heads. Xavi Hernandez certainly hopes the club finds solutions to their problems and allows him to add the required players in the window.

That’s a difficult prospect for the Catalans, considering they must raise more than €100 million and cull around €200 million in wages to get their ball rolling. Barcelona could sell some of their underperforming stars to bring in new players, starting with Ferran Torres.

The 23-year-old Barcelona star has not performed to expected levels since moving from Manchester City. In the 18 months he’s been here, Xavi has steadily demoted him to a bench role, for there have been other, better performers on the side.

While his stock at Barcelona continues to deplete, Premier League sides are increasingly keen to sign him. The 23-year-old star has interest from Arsenal and Aston Villa, with both sides eager to bolster their attack with Torres.

Arsenal have had a long-standing interest in the attacker, with Mikel Arteta enquiring in the last two windows. Barcelona could consider selling him for a lower price than they bought him, which shows how much he has regressed at Camp Nou.

The Gunners are keen on a wide attacker to join them. Moussa Diaby remains a player of interest and is seen as able competition for Bukayo Saka. There are other names like Allan Saint-Maximin and Pedro Neto, but they could move for the Frenchman as a priority.

However, they might look at Torres and the potential price tag he carries before making a decision. Meanwhile, Aston Villa are looking at the 23-year-old Barcelona star ahead of the summer. Unai Emery intends to bring a wide, versatile attacker to bolster his ranks.

The likes of Emile Smith-Rowe have been linked alongside other players. There’s a visible need for a new attacker, with Leon Bailey not proving a consistent figure to rely upon. With Villa fans anticipating European football next season, the club might want to strengthen sufficiently with quality additions.

Aston Villa has the financial capacity to broker a deal, but they will jump the queue if Barcelona are considering a cut-price sale. Both Arsenal and Villa could contest for the signing, who will make the final decision depending on where he gets to play regularly.
