Manchester United are all set to battle it out with Tottenham Hotspur for the services of 26-year-old James Maddison.

According to Daily Telegraph, Manchester United will push Tottenham Hotspur all the way for the signature of James Maddison. The 26-year-old has been in impressive form this season, contributing nine goals and seven assists in 27 appearances for Leicester City. However, his future at the club is uncertain.

Maddison joined the Foxes back in the summer of 2018 from Norwich City. He has gone from strength to strength since joining them. And, the Englishman is currently amongst their best players. However, he is likely to part ways with the club in the summer.

Leicester City are fighting for survival in the English top flight. They are currently 18th, and a few positive results could see them survive in the Premier League. But, irrespective of the result of their relegation battle, Maddison looks set to part ways with the club.

With his contract at the club set to expire in just over 12 months’ time, selling him in the summer will be the best bet for the Foxes, who recorded a loss of £92.5 million earlier this year. They have a history of selling their star players for big fees, and they may be willing to let Maddison go if the price is right as they look to balance the books.

A fee of around £45 million to £60 million could be enough to prise the 26-year-old attacking midfielder away from the club. Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are said to be interested in signing Maddison.

Spurs have struggled for creativity in midfield this season, and the England international could be the perfect player to provide the spark that they have been missing. Tottenham’s priority heading into the upcoming transfer window is to sign an attacking midfielder, and they also have their eyes on Lovro Majer. But, Tottenham would prefer having the 26-year-old in their ranks.

Manchester United, on the other hand, are looking to further strengthen their squad as they look to push for the Premier League title next season. And, signing the former Norwich City star could take them one step closer.
