Tottenham are reportedly interested in Morgan Gibbs-White as their search for a new playmaker continues ahead of the new season.

According to Football Insider, Morgan Gibbs-White emerges on the radar of Tottenham. The Nottingham Forest star could depart the club if they suffer relegation. The Englishman could fit into their system with Spurs needing a new playmaking midfielder.

One of Antonio Conte’s problems during the latter stages of his Tottenham reign was a lack of a playmaker. The Italian had reportedly asked the club to sign one in the last two windows and also suffered due to the injury to Rodrigo Bentancur.

While Conte is long gone, the requirement might take precedence ahead of the new window. Whoever comes to manage Tottenham will see the lack of a playmaker, meaning the club will likely keep looking for the right option in the market.

James Ward-Prowse is a name mentioned for some time, and with Southampton on the verge of relegation, the midfielder might look for a way out. However, going by an attacking sense, the Saints man plays more centrally, meaning, Spurs could look for a star in a more advanced role.

Former player and current Sporting CP star Marcus Edwards also features on their list. However, Tottenham may consider bringing someone with experience in the Premier League. The player should also have a higher ceiling to develop and become a future star.

Hence the links to Morgan Gibbs-White makes complete sense from a Tottenham perspective. The Premier League playmaker has improved since joining Nottingham Forest in the summer. He has attracted many other big clubs for his displays this season.

Gibbs-White joined Forest from Wolves in a £42.5 million deal, including add-ons. He reportedly earns £80,000 per week, something Spurs could certainly improve. Moreover, the Premier League playmaker could leave Forest if they suffer relegation from the Premier League.

Their recent win over Brighton allowed them to pull away from the bottom three. However, their loss to Brentford has brought them back near the danger zone. Forest feel Gibbs-White will leave the club if they fall back into the Championship.

Considering their initial outlay on the Premier League playmaker, Tottenham will have to mind the potential transfer fees Forest might demand. They feel he has a ceiling to grow at the club and hence may end up paying the right fee and taking it as an investment.
