Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are keen on acquiring the services of Southampton star James Ward-Prowse.

According to 90min, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in the signature on James Ward-Prowse. With Southampton struggling for survival in the Premier League, the 28-year-old midfielder’s departure in the summer looks likely.

Ward-Prowse has been a part of the Saints’ setup since his childhood days. He has gone up the ranks at the club and established himself as one of their most important players over the years. The 28-year-old has featured in over 400 matches for Southampton and has over 100 goal contributions.

While he has quite a few years left on his contract, the England international might be on his way out in the summer a s the Saints are struggling for survival in the English top flight. And, as per the reports, Southampton would accept a bid of around £50 million for their star man.

Southampton are currently bottom of the league table with just 23 points out of their 31 matches. Surviving relegation from this situation looks unlikely. And, if they do end up in the EFL Championship for next season, quite a few of their stars could leave in the summer. And, Ward-Prowse is one of the players on the list. The 28-year-old contract at the club runs until the summer of 2026 but the club is expected to not stand in his way.

The England international is amongst the best midfielders in the league, and there are quite a few clubs interested in his services. Tottenham, Newcastle United and Manchester United are teams who are desperate to land the 28-year-old in their ranks. Tottenham need to add some creativity and goals to their midfield and Ward-Prowse would be quality option to have.

The Magpies manager Eddie Howe and sporting director Dan Ashworth are both big fans of the Saints midfielder. And, they would love to have him in their ranks. Ward-Prowse’s arrival will add a lot of quality to their setpieces and it will surely bolster their midfield.

However, they will face competition from Manchester United. The Red Devils want to strengthen their midfield before heading into next season. Erik ten Hag, who has done wonders at the club, is keen on strengthening his midfield. The Dutch manager believes adding another world-class player in the centre of the park could help his team take the next step.

With Scott McTominay and on-loan star Marcel Sabitzer’s futures at the club uncertain, they are in desperate need of a new midfielder. And, acquiring Ward-Prowse could surely do wonders for them. However, it won’t be that easy a task because of Newcastle and Tottenham’s interest in his services.
