Chelsea plot part-exchange deal to sign Andre Onana

According to a report by Sportmediaset, Chelsea are keen on signing Andre Onana ahead of next season. The 27-year-old shot-stopper has managed to revive himself at Inter Milan in the ongoing season. And, there are quite a few clubs interested in his services.

The Blues have already met the Inter Milan officials as they look to land the former Ajax goalkeeper in their ranks. Chelsea were ready to offer Kepa Arrizabalaga plus cash for the €40 million-rated goalkeeper. However, the Serie A giants are not interested in having the Spanish shot-stopper in their ranks.

Onana came into the limelight while playing for Ajax. He was considered amongst the best goalkeepers in the world. However, a doping incident resulted in his suspension, and it resulted in a major setback in his career.

Meanwhile, the 27-year-old joined Inter Milan ahead of the ongoing season. And, the former Ajax keeper has managed to return to his best. He has been involved in 34 matches in the ongoing season and has managed to keep a clean sheet on 16 occasions.

His sensational performances have been a key reason for their success in the Champions League so far. The Inter keeper has six clean sheets in their ten matches in the competition. And, he will be a key factor going ahead as the Serie A giants look to win the UCL this season.

Meanwhile, the Blues are keen on having him in their ranks. They are not happy with the performances of Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy in goal. The duo have had their fair share of success. But, they have not been consistent enough. Chelsea thus want to sort out their goalkeeping situation ahead of next season.

And, they are keen on having Onana in their ranks to strengthen the goalkeeping position. Inter would prefer having cash in return for their shot-stopper. However, they could be interested in having Trevoh Chalobah or Ruben Loftus-Cheek in a player-plus-cash deal.

The Blues will be willing to offer any of the two as they look to offload a few of their players in the summer to bring the €40 million price down. With Inter keen on strengthening their defence as well as midfield ahead of next season, they could agree on having either Chalobah or Loftus-Cheek.
