Chelsea have been linked with a move for Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana, a target for Tottenham.

Chelsea are one of two Premier League clubs looking to sign the Cameroon goalkeeper. And the Blues will face competition from London rivals Tottenham Hotspur. A report from Italian outlet Calciomercatoweb claims that the Inter Milan star is a player in demand. And the two Premier League clubs are pressing to sign him from the Serie A giants.

Chelsea will need to bring in a quality alternative to the Senegalese international goalkeeper Edouard Mendy. The experienced goalkeeper has fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge. And he is expected to leave the club at the end of the season.

Mendy will be hoping to play regularly. But he is unlikely to get that opportunity at Stamford Bridge. Onana could be the ideal replacement for the 30-year-old next season.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are looking to bring in a quality replacement for club legend Hugo Lloris. The 36-year-old Frenchman is no longer the player he used to be and needs to be replaced in the coming months. The veteran is clearly on the decline, and his error-prone performances have hurt Tottenham dearly.

Onana has been an important player for Inter Milan, and he has shown that he has the quality to thrive in Serie A. It will be interesting to see where the 26-year-old ends up eventually. Chelsea certainly have more financial resources compared to Tottenham. But they might not be able to offer the Inter Milan star Champions League football next season.

Tottenham, on the other hand, are well placed to finish in the top four. And they will hope that Champions League football can give them an edge in the transfer race. Onana is 26 and is entering his peak years.

The Cameroon international will feel that this is the right time for him to make a step up in his career. And he will be determined to showcase his worth in the Premier League. Furthermore, the player is likely to earn a lot more in the Premier League compared to what he earns at Inter Milan. Both Tottenham and Chelsea can offer him a lucrative contract.
