Chelsea and Manchester United are still keen on Evan Ferguson despite him signing a new contract at Brighton.

According to a report by Fabrizio Romano via Caughtoffside, Manchester United and Chelsea retain their interest in Evan Ferguson. The 18-year-old Brighton forward has already had a huge impact on his club’s performances in his first season in the top flight.

A lot of clubs from across Europe were interested in his services. But Brighton have managed to pen down a new deal with the teenager. However, Romano believes Manchester United and Chelsea will continue monitoring the 18-year-old.

Romano said, “Clubs were monitoring Ferguson, of course, he’s a super young talent and it’s normal to follow his steps; this will continue not just with Manchester United or Chelsea but with many clubs.”

The Seagulls acquired his services in the winter of 2021. He has since gone up the ranks at the club and was promoted to their first team ahead of the ongoing season. During his time at the club, he has featured in 39 matches for the first team. The teenage sensation has found the back of the net on 18 occasions and has provided 3 assists.

As far as the ongoing season is concerned, the 18-year-old has featured in 28 matches in total for the first team as well as their youth team. He has scored 14 goals and has five to his name. He has been sensational in the limited opportunities that he has had in the ongoing Premier League season. Ferguson has scored four goals and has two assists in the English top flight this season.

His performances have resulted in a lot of interest in his services. Brighton were well aware of the situation and they have managed to pen down a new contract with the Ireland international. However, Manchester United and Chelsea will continue to have their eyes on him as they look to sign him in the near future.

The Blues have struggled to score goals of late, and they are looking to sign a new number nine. And Chelsea believe Ferguson could be a great addition to their ranks for the present as well as the future.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are also keen on having the teenager in their ranks. While Erik ten Hag has done wonders since arriving, he is well aware of the fact that they need a new forward. They are yet to successfully replace Cristiano Ronaldo and will be on the hunt for a striker in the summer.

With two top Premier League clubs still pushing for Ferguson’s signatures, it will be interesting to see how long Brighton manage to hold on to him.
