Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino is reportedly on his way out of the club at the end of the season, with AC Milan keen on signing him.

Roberto Firmino will be out of contract in June, and he has decided not to renew his contract with Liverpool. A report from Calciomercatoweb claims that AC Milan are currently leading the race to sign the 31-year-old striker.

Clubs like Juventus and Inter Milan are keen on signing by experienced forward as well. But AC Milan are hoping to sign the Brazilian as a replacement for former Liverpool striker Divock Origi.

The Belgian signed for AC Milan last summer after running down his Liverpool contract. But he has been quite underwhelming for them. Origi has contributed to just three goals across all competitions this season, and Milan are unhappy with his performances.

It seems that the Serie A champions are prepared to cash in on Origi this summer and bring in a quality replacement. Firmino would be a superb short-term acquisition for the Rossoneri, who lead the race to sign the 31-year-old. But it remains to be seen whether they can convince the player to sign a contract with them.

Signing a player of his quality on a free transfer would be a major bargain, and he could help AC Milan improve in the final third. The Brazilian is more than just a goalscorer, and his playmaking abilities and versatility will be an added bonus for the Italian club. He has been linked with Spanish clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona as well.

The Brazilian international has proven his quality in Germany and England. He will be looking to try out a new challenge at this stage of his career. A move to Spain or Italy would be the ideal next step in his career, and it will be interesting to see where he ends up eventually.

The 31-year-old has 11 goals and five assists to his name across all competitions this season. And his departure will certainly come as a blow for Liverpool. However, the Reds have already invested in players like Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez. The two players will be expected to fill the void left by the Brazilian international next season.
