Manchester United have reportedly been linked with a move for Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane for months.

Harry Kane has been linked with a move away from Tottenham every summer in recent years. But Daniel Levy has managed to hold on to him eventually. A report from Daily Telegraph claims that Manchester United have now made enquiries regarding a potential summer move as they step up their pursuit of a quality striker. Spurs want £100 million to sell the player to an English club.

Erik ten Hag has made it his priority to sign a reliable goalscorer during the summer transfer window. And Harry Kane is certainly one of the best around. The 29-year-old has proven himself at the highest level for a number of years, and he could transform Manchester United in the attack.

Marcus Rashford has done an impressive job at Old Trafford this season. But Manchester United cannot afford to rely on him to bail them out every week if they want to challenge for major trophies. They will need more players of similar quality, and Harry Kane would be an outstanding acquisition.

The 29-year-old is at the peak of his career, and he will be determined to succeed at the highest level. Despite scoring a bucketload of goals consistently for a number of years, he has not been able to win a single trophy at club level with Tottenham.

He will feel that this is the right time for him to take the next step in his career and join a club capable of challenging for trophies. Manchester United have shown remarkable improvement under Ten Hag, and they have already won the English League Cup this season.  They have made it to the final of the FA Cup as well.

There is no reason why Manchester United cannot challenge for the league title next season. They have the resources to bring in quality players. And they should be able to bridge the gap with Manchester City and Arsenal with the right reinforcements. The Red Devils are now stepping up their efforts to sign their top target by making the first moves.

Someone like Harry Kane could transform the Red Devils into genuine title contenders. Daily Telegraph believes that Spurs could demand a sum of around £100 million for Kane this summer. While that is a huge price to pay for a 29-year-old, the market is inflated, and Kane is one of the very best in the world. It will be interesting to see if the Englishman joins Manchester United this summer.
