Barcelona will reportedly prioritise signing 33-year-old Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Chelsea this summer.
According to Sky Sports News, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is a top target for Barcelona. The Catalan giants are also interested in Liverpool veteran Roberto Firmino. But the 33-year-old Chelsea striker is at the top of Barcelona’s wishlist for the summer transfer window.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has become a journeyman since entering his thirties. A few years ago, he was on top of the world after winning the Premier League Golden Boot. The Gabonese striker also became Arsenal’s captain. But run-ins with Mikel Arteta ended his stint with Arsenal before he joined Barcelona.
The 33-year-old was in his element in the second half of the 2021/22 season, ending the campaign as Barcelona’s top scorer. But Aubameyang’s stint with Barcelona ended last summer after Robert Lewandowski arrived at Spotify Camp Nou. And the veteran striker moved to Chelsea on the deadline day of the summer transfer window.
But Aubameyang’s spell with Chelsea has been a dud, with the player struggling to make his mark. He has managed only 870 minutes of game time, scoring three goals in 20 outings thus far. In addition, he has yet to make an appearance for Chelsea since early February. But that has not deterred potential suitors, including Barcelona.

Barcelona wanted to re-sign Aubameyang in the January transfer window. But FIFA rules prevented the transfer from happening, meaning he remained at Chelsea. But with the West London club ready to part ways with the 33-year-old, Barcelona can launch the offensive to bring him back to Camp Nou.
But Barcelona’s financial issues will force them to try and re-sign the Gabonese striker on a free transfer. That might put a spanner in the works for the Blaugrana, considering Chelsea will need to balance the books in the summer. So they might demand at least a nominal fee for the 33-year-old.
For now, though, Aubameyang has emerged as the top target for Barcelona, according to Sky Sports. Meanwhile, Liverpool veteran Roberto Firmino is also a target for the Blaugrana. And it will be interesting to see who the Catalan giants sign in the summer.
