Chelsea are reportedly prepared to let go of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, with Barcelona keen on re-signing him.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has not been able to hit top form since moving to Chelsea, and he has failed to hold down a regular starting birth under Graham Potter. A report from Deportes Cuatro claims that the Blues are now prepared to terminate his contract amid interest from Barcelona.

Chelsea signed the former Arsenal striker from Barcelona last summer. And it seems that Barcelona are prepared to bring him back to the club. Barcelona have Robert Lewandowski as the only reliable goalscorer at the club and are clearly looking to add more depth to their attack.

Aubameyang has a strong relationship with his former teammates at the Catalan club, and he is keen on a return to Camp Nou. A move away from Chelsea would be ideal for the Gabonese striker. And they are now ready to terminate the Barcelona target’s contract to part ways with him. Meanwhile, recent reports have claimed that he is ready to take a pay cut to rejoin Barcelona.

Chelsea recently left the striker out of their Champions League squad. So it is evident that the player is not a key part of Graham Potter’s first-team plans at Stamford Bridge. It will be interesting to see if the Blues can bring in a quality goalscorer at the end of the season.

Chelsea improved their attacking unit with a number of signings in January. The likes of Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke will certainly add more creativity to the side in the coming months. But they still need to bring in someone who can finish off the chances.

The Blues have failed to find the back of the net consistently this season. Chelsea have been linked with strikers like Victor Osimhen in recent weeks. And it remains to be seen whether they can agree on a deal with Napoli for the 24-year-old Nigerian international.

As for Aubameyang, he could be the backup option to Lewandowski at Barcelona. The 33-year-old can operate as a left-sided forward as well, and he will give manager Xavi Hernandez some much-needed options to work with, in the final third.
