Chelsea are close to acquiring the services of 18-year-old Benfica forward Diego Moreira ahead of next season.

According to Fabrizio Romano via CaughtOffside, Chelsea are closing in on a deal to acquire Diego Moreira. The 18-year-old forward is considered a huge prospect for the future and the Blues are within reach of his signatures.

Moreria started off at the Belgium club Standard Liège. His performances for their youth team attracted the attention of the Portuguese club Benfica. They managed to sign him in the summer of 2020. The teenager has gone from strength to strength since joining the Portuguese club.

The 18-year-old is currently a part of their ‘B’ team and he has also been a regular feature for the Portugal Under-19 team. Moreira has featured in 12 matches for his nation’s youth team and also has 2 goals to his name.

His impressive performances have attracted the attention of quite a few clubs. The teenager is well aware of the situation. And, with his contract set to expire in the summer, the 18-year-old will be on the move in the summer as a free agent.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have been keen on signing the Portuguese teenage sensation ahead of next season. And, according to Romano, the Blues are close to acquiring the services of the Portugal Under-19 star. The deal is in the final stages and if things go according to plan, Moreira should be at Stamford Bridge ahead of next season.

The Blues have spent a fortune on acquiring young talented players from across Europe since the arrival of their new co-owner. While the results on the pitch haven’t been that great, they are all set to once again flex their muscles in the summer transfer window. And, they have quite a few players on their radar.

While they are still on the look for their new manager, the club have already started planning for the summer. And, it seems the Blues are on the verge of securing the services of the 18-year-old Benfica forward. The London club believe he has the potential to make it big. And, they are willing to invest in the Portuguese youngster.

Chelsea are always on the look out for young talented players who can eventually make it to their first team. And, the 18-year-old winger seems to be a great fit for the club. While other clubs are also keen on the teenager, the Blues are very close to acquiring him.
